After taking a summer break, I’m happy to announce that my free teleclass series is starting up again in September. The next free teleclass is on a specialized topic: Emotional Eating, Overeating, and Success After Weight Loss Surgery. If you are someone who has had weight loss surgery or is considering it, this call is for you.
The teleclass takes place Wednesday September 3, 2008 at
3 pm Eastern, 2 pm Central, 1 pm Mountain, and noon Pacific time.
If you can’t attend, don’t let that stop you from registering. The call will be recorded and registered participants will receive access to the class recording after the call. If you’ve never attended a teleclass before, they’re easy. You’ll just dial in on the phone number you will receive when you register (you are responsible for any long distance charges) and when prompted you’ll be given an access code to enter.
You can go here to register and when you do, you’ll have an opportunity to submit a question that you would like addressed. I’ll try to get to as many as I can on the call. Hope to “see” you in class!
Take good care,
Melissa

Dr. McCreery, I have purchased your Emotional Eating Toolbox and have found it extremely eye-opening. Your most recent post about food-journaling makes me just want to point out that I have found – for myself – that food journaling is absolutely critical in my losing weight. I have made the decision for myself to journal absolutely everything I eat. This makes me more likely to make good choices, and less likely to overeat or make poor food choices. I had Lap-Band surgery in June. I am still not at my “sweet spot”, but just in taking an honest look at my eating habits and emotions related to hunger, it has changed my outlook on weight loss and living a whole lot! Thanks for your blog; it is one of my favorites. It is full of great information, and for those who are really serious about losing weight, it will definitely make a difference!
Best regards,

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your comment. You probably already know that I am all about helping people figure out what works for them–and there is rarely (if ever) one right answer. I know some people find food journals to be a very effective tool. My guess is the secret to being able to use them effectively involves being able to use them to be “curious” about eating choices and being able to avoid the shame and self blame trap that so many people fall into.
By the way, I LOVE the title of your blog!
Take good care,
Melissa
