Recently I asked you to share your biggest challenge or question when it comes to taking better care of yourself and being more successful with your goals. The responses are still coming in! By far, the area where most of you want help has to do with time—not enough time, how to find the time, how to let yourself take the time, and how to use the time productively.

You already know this—finding time and knowing how to claim it is critical to figuring out how to lower your stress, be more effective, and take better care of you. There is so much ground to cover that it’s actually an entire module of my brand new, expanded T.H.R.I.V.E. Formula™ 2.0 program. Small steps can work wonders though. Today I want to share with you one of the biggest secrets to finding time to take care of yourself and my formula for doing it with ease.

Take a step towards finding time for yourself: start saying, “No.”

Some people hate saying, “No” so much, they don’t want to believe it’s true, but in every moment we choose where to put our time, energy, and even our money. This means that every “yes” has a “no” behind it (something we didn’t do instead). To put that another way, in order to be able to say, “Yes” to something we value, we are going to need to say, “No” to something else.

Here’s another thing—it’s easy to make saying, “No” far harder than it needs to be. I’ve shared this formula before, but sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. So I made you this short video with my simple formula for saying no to things that are not a good use of your time or energy—so that you will have the time to say, “Yes” to taking better care of you and your goals.

What could you do if you were saying no with ease? What would you be able to create space for? Are you willing to start saying, “No” today?

Take good care,

    Excellent Video!
Seeing examples of saying no and not going into an explanation was so much more effective than just hearing someone describe it.

Now to apply what I’ve learned. :)

  3. Hi Donna! I’m glad it was helpful. I agree that it’s one thing to hear a formula and another to see it in action (or, in this case, to actually hear the silence). Here’s to creating more space with effective nos!
