It's a time of great promise and GREAT expectations, and it's also an extremely difficult time to stay on track with goals, habits, and routines that help you THRIVE.

Holiday stress has a particular impact on women, who take charge of many of the holiday celebrations, particularly the tasks related to preparing meals and decorating the home.

Women are more likely to report an increase of stress during the holiday season.

Women have a harder time relaxing during the holidays and are more likely to fall into bad habits to manage their stress, like comfort eating.

During the holidays people in the United States are much more likely to say they behave in sedentary ways like watching TV, sleeping, eating and drinking to manage their stress.

Many people engage in emotional eating and other unhealthy behaviors to cope with their stress levels.

Research shows that many of us gain weight during the winter holiday season.  That’s probably no surprise to you.  What may surprise you is that research also shows that we are less likely to lose the weight we gain over the holidays.  That weight tends to stick around and accumulate over the years. 

Research also shows that if you’re already overweight, the holiday season may present an additional risk.  Those who are overweight are actually likely to gain MORE than the average person during the holiday.

 

  • Do you gain weight over the holidays or do your healthy habits fall by the wayside?
  • Does stress and busyness have a negative impact on your eating?  Do you overeat or make poor choices because of stress or the increased demands on your time?
  • Do holiday treats leave you feeling off track and out of control with your goals and/or your eating?
  • Do you start the holiday season with the best of intentions only to feel tired, overwhelmed and (guiltily) glad that the season is behind you?

 

 

For many of us, the holidays are an extremely busy time of year.  We get busy, we have lots of commitments, we feel pulled in many directions.

Given all we have going on, it can be hard to even think about the things we want to do to take care of ourselves.

Too many of us start the season with the best of intentions only to feel tired, overwhelmed, off track and glad that the season is behind us.

I’ve designed a program that provides an amazing range of tools and resources. And you don’t have to go anywhere.  This program comes to you.

Important: this is not a diet or food plan and this is NOT a cookie-cutter-one-size-fits-all approach to life and wellness.  Those approaches don't really provide what you need.  This is also NOT a program about denial and deprivation. The holidays probably include experiences, opportunities, and once-a-year treats and celebratory foods that you want to ENJOY.  This is a Holiday program. It’s a gift of good self-care to yourself—not a program of deprivation and denial.
